My Story
"I’ve held a lot of titles in my life: Soldier. Trucker. Restorator. But the one that has always defined me is Photographer."
Born in Plymouth, my obsession with freezing moments in time started in the '80s with a humble Kodak Disc camera. Since then, photography has been my constant companion and a true escape from the pressures of high-stakes environments. A camera of one variation or another saw the world with me during my active duty in the British Army and the US Army, and it watched the vast American landscape unfold from the cab of a semi-truck.
The turning point came in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. A chance meeting with US photographer Scott Church made me realise that my "hobby" was actually my calling. I moved back to the UK, took the gamble, and turned photography into my full-time career, officially launching Will Tudor Photography in 2009. It’s a choice I’ve never regretted.
As a completely self-taught, independent photographer, I built my business entirely from the ground up on grit and personal passion. That relentless drive carried my imagery from local landscapes to the walls of international galleries; including Salon Varna, Tate New York, and the Saatchi Gallery.
Skipping the traditional academic route, I let the quality of my work speak for itself. Today, my photography is regularly sought after and purchased by major media outlets and global corporate brands. My features span National Geographic, the BBC, MSNBC, Country Living, Countryfile, Horse & Hound, and every single major UK national newspaper, alongside countless advertising campaigns for high-end clients worldwide.
Operating at the sharp end of the industry, I also continue to shape the global news cycle and creative landscape as an exclusive contributor for both the Getty Images roster and the Alamy Live News Desk.
In October 2020, I rebranded the business to Thorn Valley Studios to better reflect the evolving scope of my work. Around that same time, always loving a new challenge, I spent the pandemic teaching myself the meticulous art of digital photo restoration, giving old, damaged photos a second lease on life.
From high-energy events and striking portraits to documenting the wild expanses of Dartmoor and the South Devon Coast, I love what I do because every click of the shutter is a story told. Through Thorn Valley Studios, I bring this wealth of real-world, industry-tested experience directly to you. I’d love to help you tell your story and master your camera.
