UV Photography

Photography has evolved far beyond capturing images in visible light. One fascinating branch that has gained our attention is UVIF photography.

This technique reveals details invisible to the naked eye by using ultraviolet light. Understanding UVIF photography opens new possibilities for us as artists, along with scientists, and enthusiasts who want to explore the unseen world around us.

What Is UVIF Photography?

  • UVIF photography stands for Ultraviolet Induced Fluorescence photography. It uses specific lighting equipment and filters that illuminate subjects outside the visible spectrum to capture images that show unique textures, patterns, and features not normally visible with the human eye.

  • Unlike regular photography, which captures light humans can see, UVIF captures light that is either emitted or reflected in Ultra Violet wavelengths.

  • To be able to capture this wavelength of UV light, images have to be taken at night where there is no visible UV light to interfere with the specific wavelength. This reveals hidden details on surfaces, materials, or living organisms.

By using experience, artistry and the correct equipment, UVIF photography creates images that highlight features invisible in standard photos.
