Founded on over fifteen years of dedicated industry experience, Thorn Valley Studios is an independent creative studio led by visual artist Will Tudor.

Anchored on the rugged, atmospheric edge of Dartmoor in Bickington, Newton Abbot, the studio brings a distinctive, cinematic perspective to fine art editorial wedding photography, bespoke 1-on-1 outdoor masterclasses, and museum-grade historical photo restorations.

We believe that true art cannot be mass-produced or automated. Every project undertaken at Thorn Valley Studios is guided by an artist's eye, disciplined precision, and an unwavering commitment to raw visual storytelling.

Two Perspectives, One Shared Passion

Our journey together actually started behind the lens. After a chance meeting at a photoshoot for an Exeter radio station, we’ve been capturing the world side-by-side ever since.

While we share a love for the craft, our individual photographic styles couldn't be more different, which allows us to cover a lot of creative ground between us:

Will is drawn to the grand scale of the environment and the technical art of editing. He specialises in Landscape & Outdoor Photography Workshops, Portraiture, and meticulous Photo Restoration.
Laura prefers a more intimate approach, focusing her lens on the finer details and getting up close and personal with nature.

By combining Will’s technical eye for sweeping landscapes and portraits with Laura’s appreciation for the close-up, delicate details of the natural world, we offer a truly well-rounded approach to every project we take on.

THE PHILOSOPHY: CINEMATIC STORYTELLING OVER COOKIE-CUTTER FORMULAS

Thorn Valley Studios was established as an antidote to formulaic, trend-driven photography. Inspired by the moody, shifting light and dramatic landscape of South Devon, Will Tudor’s signature style blends the high-contrast aesthetic of luxury editorial publishing with the unscripted depth of visual storytelling.

Whether documenting a luxury wedding or meticulously reviving a fragile family heirloom, our approach treats every single photograph as a piece of permanent cinema. We eschew stiff, artificial posing and superficial filters, focusing instead on rich tonal depth, natural contrast, and authentic emotion that withstands the test of time.

LIMITED ANNUAL COMMISSIONS: THE ARTISAN COMMITMENT

To preserve the highest standards of quality, individual focus, and artistic integrity, Will Tudor personally oversees every single project from initial consultation to final delivery. We do not outsource editing, use third-party retouching factories, or rely on automated AI shortcuts.

Capped Wedding Commissions: We strictly limit our calendar to 10 weddings per year. This ensures every couple receives undivided creative focus and a bespoke editorial experience.
Manual Restoration Conservation: Every vintage photograph is revived by hand using digital heritage brushwork, preserving the historical character and soul of the original document without artificial smoothing.
Private Mentorship: Outdoor landscape masterclasses are delivered strictly on a 1-on-1 or small private group basis across Dartmoor and the South Devon Coast.
