We monitor the weather forecast very closely in the days leading up to your workshop. Because Devon’s weather can be highly unpredictable, we don't let a light shower cancel our plans; in fact, dramatic clouds, mist, and wet surfaces often make for the most spectacular, atmospheric landscape photographs! However, if heavy rain, high winds, or severe weather are forecast, we have a few flexible options: The Soft Pivot: If the weather is clear on one side of the county but raining on the other, we can discuss switching our location (for example, pivoting from a exposed coastal path to a sheltered Dartmoor river valley or woodland). Rescheduling: If the conditions are completely unworkable or unsafe, we will happily work with you to reschedule your workshop to the next available date that suits your schedule. Technique Shift: If you still want to head out, we can adapt the workshop to focus on techniques that thrive in overcast or wet weather, such as long-exposure waterfall photography or capturing dramatic, moody textures. Our recommendation: Always bring a rain sleeve for your camera and dress in warm, waterproof layers. We will keep in touch with you the day before your workshop to make a final decision together.

Not at all. Our workshops are tailored entirely to the gear you currently own. Whether you are shooting on a top-of-the-line mirrorless setup, an entry-level DSLR, a compact bridge camera, or even a smartphone, the core principles of composition, finding the light, and framing a compelling landscape remain exactly the same.

We tailor the physical demands of the day entirely to your comfort and mobility levels. Dartmoor can involve walking over uneven, boggy ground or navigating gentle inclines to reach specific Tors. The South Devon Coast often includes steep cliff paths or rocky beaches. During our pre-workshop consultation, please let us know your fitness level so we can plan a route that is safe, comfortable, and enjoyable for you.

Because our workshops are strictly one-on-one to ensure an intensive learning experience, we generally recommend attending alone so you can focus entirely on your practice. However, if you would like a partner or friend to accompany you on the walk as a non-photographing observer, please let us know in advance so we can ensure the chosen route accommodates them.

We understand that life happens. If you need to reschedule your workshop, we ask for at least 24 hours notice so we can offer your slot to another client. Bookings rescheduled within this timeframe will be moved to a mutually agreeable future date at no extra cost.

Clients are responsible for their own transportation to and from our pre-arranged starting location or meeting point. Once we are on-site, we will explore the landscapes on foot. If our tailored itinerary involves moving between two nearby locations during a 4-hour session, we will drive our respective vehicles to the next car park.

Our standard outdoor workshops are focused entirely on "in-the-field" techniques—such as mastering your camera settings, reading the natural light, framing, and using filters. However, if you choose to split your 1-on-1 experience into two 2-hour sessions, we can easily dedicate the second 2-hour session to a digital Lightroom or Photoshop editing workflow over Zoom.

Landscape photography is entirely dependent on the quality of light. Depending on the workshop you choose (such as Coastal Sunsets or Milky Way Photography), we will deliberately time our session around golden hour, sunset, or astronomical twilight. We will coordinate the exact start and end times with you in the days leading up to your workshop based on seasonal sunset data.
